DECOLONISATION OR NEOCOLONISATION

State of violence

In an African country in revolution, surrounded by rebel soldiers and government troops, lies a coffee plantation owned since three generations by a white family. Marie, who runs the business, refuses to leave. For her it would mean giving in, a sign of weakness and cowardice. She won’t even consider it and decides to resist. But her ex-husband has other plans for them all, and for the plantation. Violence lurks in every corner of the area, ready to break out at any time.

Latest film from the French moviemaker Claire Denis, a regular in the big European festivals with works like Beau travail (1999), Trouble Every Day (2001) and L’intrus (2004).
