ILUNPETIK
VERDINI DANTZA TALDEA

Once again, Verdini Dantza Taldea shows us how art can be a valuable instrument for social integration. The preview of its new show, Ilunpetik, offers another example of the harmony, sensitivity and beauty that can be achieved when different realities are mixed, in this case, the reality of people with Down’s syndrome and of those without.

Ilunpetik tells us an ancient legend from the times when humans began to populate the Earth, when everything was in darkness. In the blackness of the night, the genies and the witches cavorted at their leisure, so the people decided to ask Amalur, Mother Earth, for help. Amalur then created a very bright star, whose light was too much for the creatures of the night. The humans called it Sun. From that day on, the women and men took the Sunflower, or Eguzkilorea, as their protection for the times when the light from their star was lacking.

This show, through the art of dance, invites us to step out of the darkness and remove the veil that covers our eyes and that doesn‘t allow us to enjoy the light and these flowers, Eguzkiloreak; the same veil that prevents us from enjoying these dancers who appear to be different but who are essentially the same as us.
