SENDEROS DE GLORIA

PATHS OF GLORY (1957)

Devastating, lucid masterpiece, this fourth movie directed by Stanley Kubrick is still one of the greatest anti-war and anti-military films in the history of cinema, a reference when talking about the approaching by the seventh art to the absurdity of war on which the New York moviemaker had the collaboration of the novelist Jim Thompson. In the France of 1916, during the First World War, a group of French generals order Colonel Dax to attack an impregnable German fort. The assault is a failure. To justify themselves, the generals order the arrest of three soldiers, accusing them of cowardice and of disobeying orders. Appointed as their defending lawyer, Dax soon realises that only a miracle will save them from the firing squad.
