EXHIBITION:
THE MILLENNIUM GATES
In its Millennium 2000 Declaration, the UN established 8 Millennium Development Goals. These goals are the axis of an ambitious project to improve the living conditions of a large part of the world’s population by 2015. Eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, promoting gender equality, reducing child mortality or ensuring environmental sustainability figure among these goals, which mutually support and need one another.
The Millennium Gates are a UN initiative endeavouring to make these 8 Millennium Development Goals known to citizens in general. Installed in the gardens of Alderdi Eder, one of the city’s most important public spaces, this exhibition will comprise eight arches or “gates” giving clear, easy to understand and attractive information on each Goal.
The awareness side of the exhibition will be rounded off with guided tours for schools in San Sebastian and for anyone wishing to know more about the Millennium Development Goals initiative.
