CHILDREN’S STORIES
Children’s Storiesis the name of a documentary project on working children in Peru and Guatemala carried out as part of the campaign El trabajo no es cosa de niños (Work isn’t kids’ stuff), organised by Global Humanitaria and comprising four short films by the Argentine moviemaker Marcelo Bumkin:
Mauris del Titicaca (10 min.). The story of a family of three fishermen boys who work alone on a boat on Lake Titicaca, where they make a living by fishing a species known as mauri.
Fuego de ángel(10 min.). At brickworks in Salcedo, on the Peruvian Altiplano, hundreds of children fashion bricks out of mud.
Bienvenidos a Poptún(10 min.). Stories told by a group of shoeshine boys from this city in North Guatemala.
Ocote(6 min.). Two brothers, aged 11 and 5, get by selling ocote (a kind of pine) to the city shops.
