WARS AND FORGOTTEN DISEASES
Unfortunately, only some of the extremely serious problems suffered by a large part of the world population receive attention capable of changing the lives of thousands of people. While some wars spend months in the news headlines and on the international agenda, others are cast aside in a fatal lack of interest prolonging their destructive consequences. There are still over thirty armed conflicts in the world, and some, such as that of Uganda, have been underway for twenty years.
There are also diseases that kill millions of people, without research, the pharmaceutical industry and the international organisations taking a definite step to remedy them or at least ease the havoc they wreak. An illness like Chagas, an infection of parasite origin which can cause death if not properly treated, affects over 18 million people in Latin America alone.
Millions of forgotten people the world over suffer from violence, exploitation, misery or disease, while they wait for the time to come when they are no longer invisible.
