Unfortunately, the social prevalence of male chauvinism is nowhere near eradication. Its presence is still obvious in several areas of social life. However, it is perhaps in private life, in the privacy of the home, that many women suffer the cruellest expression of male
chauvinism: the vilest submission and abuse. This criminal violence is reported day in day out in the media.
This exhibition brings together over a hundred international cartoonists to remind us that there’s still a very long way to go before so many women cease to be the victims of their husbands chauvinistic abuse. With the disarming intelligence of humour, the work of these artists tells us that it’s everyone’s duty to help achieve this objective.
