PERSÉPOLIS (Persepolis, 2007)
This is the tale of an Iranian girl in the period from the Islamic Revolution to our days. The fundamentalists took power when she was 9, forcing women to wear veils and imprisoning thousands. But she’s smart and, despite the difficulties in her way, she discovers punk music, ABBA and Iron Maiden while the terror of the persecution doled out by the new government and the war with Iraq surround her. At the age of 14 her parents decide to send her to Europe to study. Adaptation of
the comic of the same name by Marjane Satrapi, the object of cult following ever since it hit bookshops the world over.
